We’ll be at stand 326 during Medtec 2010 in Galway

Product mix avoidance and print verification are part of the latest product offerings to be demonstrated by Crest Solutions, stand 326, at Medtec Ireland 2010

Crest Solutions will be exhibiting and presenting at the Medtec 2010 event scheduled to take place at the Radisson hotel in Galway next September. Crest Solutions will be located at stand 326 and we will be presenting our complete product suite however there will be special focus on Crest Solutions PrintInspector™, the new high accuracy in-line print verification system for the medical device manufacturing industry. The Medtec show was selected as the launch pad for the product as it provides an excellent opportunity to demonstrate to medical device manufacturers how it can help to solve the problems surrounding the verification of large format labels.

Crest Solutions is an established supplier in the provision of inspection, verification and traceability solutions and we are well versed in the requirements for ensuring accurate production and packaging of medical device products. We currently provide a range of products from line management solutions that manage vision systems and other peripherals on a production or packaging line to highly accurate inspection solutions that ensure product and packaging verification. We also offer track and trace solutions to ensure full traceability of medical products throughout their lifecycle with a particular emphasis on managing product mix avoidance issues.

Crest Solutions PrintInspector™ is designed to accurately inspect large format labels commonly found in the Medical Device sector. PrintInspector™ works through a scanner head that is fixed permanently to the output printer and utilises the drive mechanism of the printer to guide the labels under the scanning head. It offers the ultimate in accuracy and ensures the best quality image for high speed printing. The system verifies labels as they are printed and is capable of speeds of up to 300mm per second. The system has different attachment heads depending on the printer manufacturer. It reads all common 1D barcodes, pharmacode and datamatrix code. It checks for missing and excess print, it inspects graphics for accuracy, detects smudges and streaks on unpopulated areas of the label and is a key component of any product mix avoidance initiative.

There will also be an opportunity to hear Frank Madden present his latest views on the topical subject of Product Mix Avoidance, entitled:

“Eliminating the risk of human error through the deployment of suitable electronic verification methods, including Direct Part Marking, Datamatrix, RFID technology and Compliance printing”.

This presentation will examine the opportunities presented through new advances in Vision, Traceability and RFID technologies and how they can create a new and more secure packaging environment for medical devices. It will provide an overview of how manufacturers can introduce electronic verification to their packaging lines to eliminate risk of the product and contents not matching the product label on the packaging. These new advances are paving the way for more secure packaging lines and provide Medical Device Manufacturers with the opportunity to eradicate the risk of product mix-ups through the deployment of electronic verification.
